The Kwara State Government has officially opened its registration portal for a 3-day Entrepreneurship Capacity Building Training targeted at student entrepreneurs across tertiary institutions in the state.
The initiative, announced in a statement by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, Salami Wasiu Onidugbé, aims to equip young entrepreneurs with practical knowledge, technical skills, and strategic tools needed to build sustainable and successful businesses.
Training Designed to Bridge Skill Gaps
According to the statement, the programme seeks to address the ongoing challenges faced by student entrepreneurs, particularly in accessing grants and funding opportunities due to limited expertise in key business areas.
“Many young entrepreneurs miss out on opportunities due to lack of training in proposal writing, financial planning, market analysis, product development, and branding strategy,” Onidugbé explained.
He added that the training will feature expert-led sessions covering:
- Business proposal writing
- Financial literacy and planning
- Digital branding strategies
- Product development
- Business pitching
- Regulatory compliance
Participants will also benefit from hands-on workshops, mentorship sessions, and practical exercises designed to transform innovative ideas into viable enterprises.
Aligning with Youth Empowerment Goals
The initiative reflects the Kwara State Government’s broader commitment to youth empowerment and economic development through entrepreneurship.
“We are not just training students on entrepreneurship, but empowering them to build ventures that can attract investment and contribute meaningfully to the economy,” Onidugbé stated.
Programme Details and Eligibility
The training is scheduled to take place in April 2026, with only 100 participants to be selected from tertiary institutions across Kwara State.
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be a bonafide student of a recognized tertiary institution in Kwara State
- Have an existing business or demonstrable entrepreneurial skill

Equipment Support for Outstanding Participants
